The Wanderers Post promises "reliable, trustworthy voice" for Wolves fans as new independent title launches on CounterPress

Wolves fans will have a fresh local media title dedicated to independent coverage of their club next season, powered by CounterPress.

The Wanderers Post is the latest in a long line of journalist-founded outlets setting out to offer a new wave of reporting on football clubs up and down the country.

The site will be edited by Johnny Phillips – a very familiar face in football-loving households across the UK thanks to his long association with Sky Sports – with daily coverage from local Wolverhampton journalist Tom Gibson.

Johnny has covered Wolves for many years in his role as a reporter at Sky, making three documentaries about the club, as well as spending eight years as a columnist for the Express & Star's weekend sports coverage and authoring two books.

Tom graduated from the University of Derby's Football Journalism course, while working for PA Media, the FA and From the Spot. Born and bred in Wolverhampton, he has also volunteered with Wolves Foundation and covered Wolves Women's recent impressive rise to WSL 2.

Wanderers Post members can look forward to a local presence in the city with a platform that comprehensively covers all Wolves news while producing in-depth features and reports on the club.

Johnny said: "I'm looking forward to writing more detailed features on a platform that has huge potential for development. The Wanderers Post is a fresh alternative to Wolves coverage and supporters can look forward to a new name shining a light on all aspects of the club they love."

"We want to provide a reliable, trustworthy voice for Wolves fans," Tom revealed. "I will bring creativity and a strong determination to get the maximum amount of coverage across the football club.

"The untold stories of the people behind the scenes to the big heroes - if it involves Wolves and is relevant to the fans then I want it covered on The Wanderers Post. Ensuring the fans feel represented is huge and I understand that feeling myself, being a supporter of the club."

"Having Tom based in the city is a key aspect of this project as we look to establish a tangible presence with our coverage," Johnny added.
